It’s that time of year again when we all decide that it’s time to stop using alcohol to cope with our families, eat a vegetable that isn’t in casserole form, and have more than a single glass of water in a day… Dry January! Maybe you’re doing Dry January or maybe all your months are dry months, either way it gets really boring only drinking water all day and sometimes you want a fun drink to take the edge off. Luckily, infused tinctures are an incredibly easy way to infuse your beverages and give your lungs a break if you picked up a holiday cold. Whether you want a tropical drink to distract you from the cold, gray skies or a hot drink to warm you up and soothe a sore throat, we’ve got a recipe for you!
Strawberry-Ginger Lemonade:
Sweet, citrusy, with a little spice from the fresh ginger, this recipe is refreshing and a perfect after work treat. Recipe serves 2 but recipe will keep in the refrigerator for up to 5 days if you want to make more, the ginger syrup is a great addition to tea as well!
Recipe Makes 2 Servings
1 cup water
1/4 cup peeled and sliced ginger root (about a 3-4 inch knob)
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice (about 3-4 lemons)
1/2 cup fresh strawberries, roughly chopped
1:1 District Cannabis Tincture
Club soda
Steps:
- Peel the ginger root and slice into medallions, roughly ¼ in thick
- Heat the water in a small saucepan until boiling, add the sugar and stir until completely dissolved
- Add ginger and simmer for 15min, remove from heat. Once cool, carefully strain into a jar, removing ginger pieces
- Juice lemons and add to ginger syrup (if you prefer this non-carbonated, add 2 cups of water and taste before adding more)
- In a 16oz glass add 3 oz of ginger-lemon mixture, strawberries, and preferred dosage of tincture and muddle the strawberries for about 10 seconds, add ice to the brim and top with club soda and garnish with a lemon wheel
Tropic of Canna
In the words of Frank Ocean, “Rollin marijuana- that’s a cheap vacation”, make this drink, sit in front of a space heater, and pretend like you’re in the tropics. It’s not quite the same as a beach vacation but it’s definitely something!
Recipe Makes 2 Servings
4oz pineapple juice
2oz orange juice
2 oz coconut cream
Juice of 1 lime
District Cannabis THC Tincture
Splash of grenadine
Steps:
- Add pineapple juice, orange juice, coconut cream, your preferred dosage of tincture, grenadine, and lime to shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 20 seconds.
- Strain into a glass with fresh ice and garnish with a cherry or orange wedge (alternatively, you can enjoy this drink frozen, just blend above ingredients with a cup of ice for 15-30 seconds and pour into glass)
Sleepy Spritz
This drink is the perfect nightcap that will put you right to sleep as the cherry juice has naturally high concentrations of melatonin and tryptophan. If melatonin gives you horrific nightmares, feel free to substitute cranberry juice for it. Some people enjoy adding magnesium glycinate as an added sedative, but always consult with your doctor before starting new supplements.

4 oz tart cherry juice
1 cup fresh black berries
1 oz simple syrup
Juice of 1 lemon
Club soda
Steps:
- Add blackberries, simple syrup, lemon juice, and tincture to each glass and muddle for 10 seconds then add cherry juice and ice and shake vigorously
- Top with club soda and garnish with a lemon slice
Pot Toddy:
Feeling under the weather? This hot drink is the perfect thing to soothe those annoying cold symptoms and warm you up from the inside out. Turmeric and pepper reduce inflammation and boost your immune system, lemon has antibacterial properties and high concentrations of Vitamin C to help kick the cold, and infused honey soothes a sore throat and provides full body relief.

District Cannabis 20:1 Infused Honey
Uninfused Honey to taste
2 c Water
Juice of 1 Lemon
¼ tsp ground turmeric
Pinch of black pepper
Cinnamon Stick
Steps:
- Heat water in a small saucepan over medium heat
- When lightly boiling, add turmeric, black pepper, and cinnamon stick – stir to combine and remove from heat
- Juice half a lemon into each glass and add infused honey, if preferred dosage is less than an ounce, add uninfused honey to supplement so there is 1 ounce of honey in total
- When the water/spice mixture has cooled slightly but is still hot, strain and add to glass and stir
- Garnish with a lemon wedge and get comfy
