The Father’s Day Deficit

Don’t Shortchange Dad: Balance the Budget with Cannabis

Yes, dads also change diapers. Maybe they weren’t in labor for 24 hours pushing you into the world, and most likely you didn’t feed off of their bloodstream, but still … That science fair project? Coaching the soccer team? Bedtime stories 365 days a year? Gotta count for something!

Yet here we are in June, Fathers Day is right around the corner, and how do we show dad our love and appreciation? At best, a cheap tie and a condescending mug. This year, let’s do better.

…And What About Dad?

Facts are facts. Families spend $10 billion less on Father’s Day than on Mother’s Day. Read that again. Ten. Billion. Less.

If you remember our Mother’s Day blog, it seems like a safe logical leap to say that at least the founder of Mother’s Day, who was against all of this capitalist BS, would be proud… But for all those sad dads out there without even a brunch reservation or a bouquet? Ouch.

At District Cannabis, we’re offering an amendment to the yearly habit of leaving Father’s Day in the dust. And we’re doing it the only way we know how: with weed.

Raising the Bar With Some Good Old Dad Grass

He’s the OG stoner. He was front-row at Phish when you weren’t even an idea yet. Have you really not stumbled across his vast collection of pieces from the eras? So yeah, obviously dad will be very touched to receive his favorite kind of flower for Father’s Day.

What Kind of Weed Does Your Dad Deserve?

Top shelf, goes without saying (we got you, dad). But as for the specifics? Well, that all depends on the dad.

Working 50 hours a week, at a job he hates, for kids who drive him nuts?
Need we state the obvious here. Indica. All the way. Through and through. Shower dad with a fragrant bouquet of Florida Wedding: he’s earned the right to melt into the couch with a joint in one hand and the remote in the other. Ideally on an island far from anyone asking for snacks.

Perhaps he’s the “tinkering in the garage” type?
Is he actually building something? Or just hiding out listening to podcasts with a pre-roll. Either way, a good sativa will do the trick. We recommend Hazy Face; keep the ideas (or excuses) flowing, his next genius invention is right around the corner.

Old-school dad who still calls it “wacky tobacky”?
Just hand him any District Cannabis strain, cue up some Zeppelin, and watch him nod approvingly while pretending to clean the grill. Or, step it up and take the blow-his-mind approach with some of 2026’s best fire: Dad, meet Layer Cake.

Surprise Dad With a New Buzz

Is he cannabis-curious? This is the perfect chance to introduce dad to something new. A Diamond-infused pre-roll? Those certainly weren’t around when he was getting baked and buying $0.10 hamburgers at the first McDonalds.

What about some natural fruit gummies? Pop one of these and the fact that the kids tracked mud through the house, didn’t do their homework, and “forgot” to walk the dog will become nothing more than a comedy special.

But in all seriousness, what’s more important than the product is the experience itself. A night to hang out, catch up, and realize cannabis isn’t what dad remembered – it’s better.

This year, skip the tie. Skip the mug. Go with the nug.

Because better weed = better dads. (Okay, maybe not legally. But it doesn’t hurt.)
